Release Party

The CD Release Party for "Other Side of the Tracks" was held on October 10, 2019 at The Brightside Music & Event Venue, 905 E 3rd St, Dayton, OH. CDs were sold and signed starting at 6:30pm, with the album performed live around 7:30pm.

The Blue Heron Trio's album page centers on "Other Side of the Tracks," a collection of eleven songs that spans standards, blues, and contemporary cocktail-hour favorites. The running order moves from upbeat swing numbers into slower ballads, giving the set a shape that suits both an evening listening session and a live performance. Titles such as "Call Me," "My Funny Valentine," and "Ain't No Sunshine" place the trio's repertoire of classics and modern hits at the heart of the record.

The band behind the record is a female vocalist, a bassist, a percussionist, and a tenor saxophonist joined by a pianist and keyboard player and a guitarist. That combination of voices and rhythm instruments is what lets the trio rearrange familiar songs into lounge-friendly arrangements while still keeping the swing and blues character intact. The lineup works equally well for weddings, corporate parties, holiday gatherings, and club sets.

The release party for the album took place at The Brightside Music & Event Venue in Dayton, with copies of the CD sold and signed during the early evening before the performance itself. Such gatherings have become a fixture in the trio's calendar, offering fans a chance to hear the material live and to meet the musicians in person. The event reflects the group's roots in the Dayton area and its ties to the wider regional music scene.

Beyond the album, the trio's broader career includes performing at venues and festivals around the region, including stops in Cincinnati, as well as art and performance spaces such as the Schuster Center and Fraze Pavilion. Festival appearances and lounge engagements have helped build a following for a stylish, swinging sound that mixes standards with contemporary songs. The band continues to accept private event requests, from weddings and anniversary celebrations to corporate functions.

Listening to the album is presented as an invitation rather than a formality: guests can press play on the tracks, check upcoming availability, and request a quote for their own celebration. The page's simple, image-forward design keeps the focus on the music and the calendar, with the release-party details and track listing doing most of the storytelling. For anyone drawn to vintage vocal jazz with a modern polish, the recording and the live shows offer an easy point of entry.
